It was four days of deep dives, demos, and drop-everything builds, all leading up to one high-stakes Sunday where 23 teams shipped, pitched, and dreamed in real time.</p><p>Within 24 hours, the top five teams were on the Discovery Stage, presenting live to judges, founders, and hundreds of curious attendees. Some had barely slept. All of them brought the kind of energy that reminds you why hackathons exist: to create, to learn, and to launch ideas that might just stick.</p><div><hr></div><h3>🥇 Winner: InvestiGate – “DealFlow venture capital deal sourcing by turning any startup website into an investment-ready one-pager, helping investors discover promising founders faster and helping startups get noticed.</p><p>Over the weekend, the team from UNSW built, iterated, and pitched non-stop. Their clarity and execution stood out immediately. One judge summed it up perfectly:</p><blockquote><p>“You’re the first ones not asking VCs for money, but actually trying to solve their problem.”</p></blockquote><p>That line captured what made InvestiGate special. They weren’t just coding for cool points. They were building around a real user pain.</p><blockquote><p>“We learned it’s not just what you build,” the team told us after. “It’s how you communicate it, the story, the clarity, the outcome.”</p></blockquote><p>They used Firecrawl, Lovable, Groq, Toolhouse, Manus AI, and Relevance AI to go from concept to working prototype in record time. Next up is mentorship with Antler to refine their product and pilot it with early users.</p><p>Winning is just the start for them, and we can’t wait to see where they take it.</p><div><hr></div><h3>🥈 safely.</p><p>PAIO is a physical AI monitoring platform designed to ensure autonomous agents are deployed responsibly. It’s part monitoring system, part peace of mind, and it couldn’t be more relevant as AI moves into the physical world.</p><p>Tobias’s thoughtful approach to AI safety and transparency earned him the and self-healing system for AI operations. It doesn’t just monitor, it diagnoses and fixes agent issues automatically, keeping complex AI systems running smoothly.</p><p>It’s bold, technical, and practical. The team’s approach to agentic reliability and self-repair turned a lot of heads and earned them third place.</p><div><hr></div><h3>The Real Win: The Community</h3><p>Hackathons are never just about the prizes. They’re about the process, the messy middle where people push limits, share ideas, and discover what they’re capable of.</p><p>All weekend, we saw that builder mindset in action. Teams formed on the fly, swapped tools, debugged each other’s code, and still found time to cheer one another on.</p><p>We’re endlessly grateful to everyone who made it possible:<br>our partners at National AI Centre, SXSW Sydney, and City of Sydney!</p><p>You made this more than a hackathon. They’re about learning faster.
